What is your prediction for the future of the construction sector in the UK?
Climate change will be the hot topic! The importance of energy efficient buildings will be vital. My prediction is that more construction companies will eventually start to use the off-site build method which is more sustainable, reduces carbon emission, air pollution, and the less time spent on site means less disruption to teachers/pupils.
Fast forward 10 years, where do you see NetZero Buildings?
We care about the quality and design of our buildings and most importantly we care about the environment and reversing climate change. Not only are we continuously talking about climate change on our website blogs and social media channels, but we have held sessions for school children to visit the factory to see what and how the schools are built. This is a great way to teach the children about what will affect them in the future. Sharing knowledge and sessions with the children will hopefully raise awareness on what we do. I think NetZero Buildings will become well known for being one of the first to use the soon to be very popular off site build method. In 10 years time I can see NetZero Buildings expand and build homes and buildings for other uses as well as schools.
Give me your number one benefit of offsite over traditional build methods?
I personally feel strongly about reversing climate change and acting on what is best for the current and future generation. I think there are two benefits which are just as important as each other. The delivery is quick and doesn’t disrupt the children’s learning and secondly there is less carbon emission, waste and packaging.
If you were Head of Building for the UK, what one thing would you change?
To encourage all to consider the environment for the future generation and introduce/make people aware of the alternatives we could use for future builds.
What do you love most about working for NetZero Buildings?
Coming up with and implementing new ideas with the team to share the NetZero dream via our social channels/website as well as at exhibitions/events.
