We’re extremely proud to have been awarded five places in the Education and Skills Funding Agency’s (ESFA) four-year £8bn build programme.
Alongside a range of other main contractors, we look forward to supporting the construction of new schools in England over the next four years.
“This is very good news, and a big achievement. We are one of a very small number of off-site manufacturers on the framework and the only participant delivering net zero buildings. It puts us in direct competition with some of the UK’s largest and longest established traditional construction companies, which is exactly where we want to be! It also strengthens our Schoolhaus® credentials which is extremely important in a sector that is often reluctant to embrace innovation, especially from new entrants. It’s gratifying to know that our efforts have been worthwhile and very exciting to see where they will take us.” – Neil Smith, CEO, Net Zero Buildings
In total, 33 builders have secured places on the ESFA’s revamped school building framework. The new framework is divided into three value bands with 22 lots:
Projects up to £4.5m
Projects between £4.5m and £12m
Projects over £12m
Net Zero Buildings were successful in five of the regions for projects up to £4.5m:
East of England A (£115m)
South East A (£235m)
South East B (£135m)
South West B (£80m)
The new panel replaces the previous national and regional frameworks, which came in for criticism for being too main contractor heavy and later suffered for having a limited choice of pre-tendered firms as the recovery saw big builders turn down opportunities to bid for smaller school schemes.
The framework will operate for a period of up to four years from 27 November 2017.
