Job title: Project Manager

Location: Newmarket/London and Site

Reports to: Education Director

Hours of work: 37.5 hours a week. 9.00 – 17.00 Mon – Fri (30 minutes unpaid lunch)

Salary range: £55,000 - £70,000

 

Job summary

As a Project manager, you'll be responsible for ensuring that a building project is completed safely, within an agreed timeframe and budget. Managing the practical side of every stage of the build, you'll work closely with architects, surveyors and other building professionals in planning and delivery.

You'll also supervise and direct a range of operations on a construction site and ensure that all tradespeople and contractors are working together to an agreed plan and that progress is being made. You may oversee a whole site ranging in value from 2m to 10m

You'll typically work in the education sector in the delivery new school buildings or new School extensions. Our Clients include working directly for the DFE or one of many local councils directly under one of many Frameworks that we have secured including the recently awarded MMC framework. You will have ideally worked with the DFE and have experience and knowledge of the DFE process both during pre-construction and Delivery.

 

Primary responsibilities 

As a Project Manager, you'll need to:

  • plan and coordinate a project from start to finish, including organising the schedule of work, costings and budget
  • Provide input and support to the pre-construction teams in producing Programmes and construction methodologies
  • plan the work and oversee the buying of necessary materials and equipment
  • hire and manage staff for the project
  • manage the construction site on a day-to-day basis, including supervising the labour force, monitoring subcontractors, checking materials, inspecting work and overseeing quality control
  • ensure the project is delivered on time and on budget by setting benchmarks, agreeing budgets and monitoring progress
  • check design documents with architects, surveyors and engineers
  • promote and maintain health and safety, including site inspections to ensure safety rules are being followed
  • write reports
  • maintain regular communication and attend meetings with clients and their representatives to inform them of progress on the project, i.e. stakeholder management
  • communicate with any consultants, subcontractors, supervisors, quantity surveyors and others involved in the project
  • deal with any unexpected problems that may occur during the project.

All staff will have a formal appraisal with their manager, on an annual basis. Once performance/training objectives have been set, the individuals progress will be reviewed on a regular basis so that new objectives can be agreed and set, in order to maintain progress.

Those with management/supervisory responsibility are required to ensure that their direct reports have an appraisal.

Health and Safety

All staff have a responsibility to maintain health and safety of self and others within the performance of duties in accordance with NZB health and safety policies, and to undertake specific health and safety responsibilities as directed. All staff have a responsibility to adhere to the Risk Management Policies & Procedures.

All staff are required to contribute to the control of risk, and must report immediately any incident, accident or near miss to the NetZero Buildings Health and Safety Manager.

All staff are required to adhere to NetZero Buildings 5-point PPE standards.

Working on Non-NetZero Buildings Premises

All staff when working on non-NZB premises are bound by NZB policies and procedures.
